Businesses are classified based on the number of its owners, and the business’ legal structure. Let us see the types of businesses that are universally available. Sole proprietorship. This is a type of business that is formed to increase the wealth of its owners by way of the profits made from the business. It is normally owned by just one person who is personally responsible for all the liabilities of the business. Partnership. A type of business that is defined by most laws as being owned by more than one person. The count starts from two and the limit of ownership number is that which the law of different nations defines. The owners of this type of business too are individually responsible for all the liabilities of the business. Corporation. This type of business is one that is primarily characterized by a limited responsibility of the owners to the liability of the business. The number or owners is no longer a limited factor because some country legislations now allow limited companies owned by just one owner. Cooperatives. The business type known as cooperative is one that can be either for profit or not-for-profit. A cooperative that is for-profit has its owners called members as opposed to shareholders that owners of for-profit companies are called.
